About Us

Brunswick Shotokan Karate and Karate Kids-USA has been offering instruction and training in Karate since 1983. Located at 400 Pleasant Hill Road in Brunswick, we have produced champions in life as well as in the martial arts.

Headed by Sensei Cub Lewis (NEIDAN) and a Board of Directors, we offer a number of programs for physical fitness and instruction in Karate.

Cub Sensei is a first degree black belt and received his Certified Instructor Award from Master Kennth Funakoshi of the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association in 1991. He continues to be an active Member of the Funkakoshi Shotokan Karate Association. For more information about the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association click here.

In addition to owning and operating Brunswick Shotokan Karate School, Sensei Cub has taught Shotokan Karate for youths at:

• Bowdoin College for Upward Bound.
• Hyde School as part of a private leadership school.
• Longfellow Elementary School in Brunswick.
• The University Of Maine Orono.
• The University Maine Farmington.
• Bangor Community College.

Sensei Cub has experience working with special needs children who have been diagnosed with Autism, Aspergers and ODD. Over the years, he has also had the pleasure of instructing and guiding children who have come from physically or mentally abusive homes.

Programs are currently offered on Monday and Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday 10 am to Noon.

Tuition is $75 per month. Students are welcome to attend classes twice per week or three times per week. Families enrolling more than one student will be charged $40 for each additional.
